Newswanger, Elva M. Martin
November 12, 1936 - September 4, 2022
Elva M. Newswanger, 85, a resident of Fairmount Homes, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 4, 2022. She was married 66 years to Robert Newswanger. Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Clarence P. and Edna Hollinger Martin.
Early in life, Elva had been a homemaker and then had worked at Weaver Markets in Reinholds for many years. She was a member of Petra Church where she was an avid prayer warrior and had been involved with small groups, women's groups, and the Foodbank. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed quilting. Her interests included cooking, flower gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving besides her husband are four children, Kathy (Delmar) Martin of Mohnton, R. Bruce Newswanger (Tim Portolese) of Elkhart, IN, Audrey (Henk) Wandel, of New Holland, and Glenda (Eric) Groff of Lancaster, eight grandchildren, Kristina (Brian) Flewelling, Kimberly (Anthony) King, Ryan (Tina) Martin, Eryin (Alyssa) Wandel, Erika (Logan) Eby, Erin (Eric) Bailey, Taylor Groff and Ethan Groff; ten great-grandchildren, Ariana, Sophia and Elliott Flewelling, Olivia, Tyler, Madison and Dylan King, and Judah, Eva and Jase Martin; two sisters, Pauline Burkholder and Arlene Peifer and a brother, Lester Martin. She was preceded in death by a brother Richard Martin.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 18, at 6:00 P.M. at Petra Church, 565 Airport Road, New Holland, PA. The family will greet friends at the church on Sunday the 18th from 4:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. Interment in the Weavlerland Mennonite Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Nissley, Clair R.
March 27, 1931 - January 14, 2022
Clair R. Nissley, 90, of Middletown, went home to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 14, 2022 at home. Born Friday, March 27, 1931 in Hershey, he was the son of the late Earl E. and Dorothy G. (Risser) Nissley. He was married 66 years to Ruth G. (Leaman) Nissley.
Clair was a member of Goods Mennonite Church, Bainbridge, and served as a deacon from 1987-2001. From the early 1990’s through 2018, he made more than 15 mission trips to Africa, Russia, Ukraine, Bolivia, China and Honduras. While on those trips, Clair accumulated many additional “grandsons”, especially from Africa that he kept in contact with till his time of passing. He was caring and generous to many as he built relationships from those trips. He was also a Gideon for many years and even went to China to secretly hand out Bibles on one mission trip.
A poultry farmer all his life until he retired in 1999; he continued to work part time as an egg packer until he was 87 years old when he bid farewell to the chickens! He also made many comforters for MCC and Christian Aid preferring to “wear out rather than rust out!”
Surviving in addition to his wife Ruth are four children: Dale E. Nissley and wife Anna Frances (Rutt); J. Melvin Nissley and wife Marilyn (Rutt); and Gerald C. Nissley and wife Mary (Weiler); all of Middletown; and a daughter Sharon J. Kurtz and husband Gerald of Charleston, SC; 20 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and a brother-in-law David G. Miller.
Clair was predeceased by a daughter, Sylvia Ruth Nissley, a sister Fern Miller, a brother Luke Nissley and a sister-in-law Verna (Zeager) Nissley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 21st, 2022 at Goods Mennonite Church, 4374 Bossler Road, Bainbridge, PA 17502 at 11:00 AM. Viewing will take place at the church on Thursday, January 20th from 6:00-8:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Goods Mennonite Cemetery.

Nissley, Mary E. Stoltzfus
September 17, 1944 - September 30, 2022
Mary E. Nissley, age 78, of Paradise, passed away at Fairmount Homes on Friday, September 30, 2022. She was the wife of the late David L. Nissley who passed away in 1999. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late William B. & Susan S. Dienner Stoltzfus. She was a member of the Mine Road Amish Mennonite Church of Paradise. She graduated from Conestoga Valley High School and then from Lancaster School of Practical Nursing. She worked as an LPN for ten years, then devoting herself to her husband and children. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, going to benefit auctions and her Monday morning ladies breakfast.
She is survived by 7 children: Louella wife of Jonathan Miller of Blackville, SC, David husband of Lillian Beiler Nissley of Paradise, Susan wife of Sokhon Kem of Blackville, SC, Chad husband of Bethany Yoder Nissley of New Holland, Philip husband of Shelly Yoder Nissley of Harrison, AR, Evalina wife of Micah Miller of Dundee, OH, Matilda wife of Virgil Miller of Antrim, OH, 41 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 siblings: David D. husband of Rosanna Smoker Stoltzfus of Gordonville, Sara Jane Stutzman of Gap, mother-in-law Matilda Lee Nissley of Aroda, VA. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law Ira Nissley.
Funeral service will take place from Calvary Monument Bible Church, 1660 Mine Road, Paradise, PA on Monday, October 3rd at 10 a.m. There will be a viewing on Sunday, October 2nd, at Mine Road Amish Mennonite Church, 5101 Mine Road, Paradise, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Interment will take place in the Mine Road Amish Mennonite Cemetery. November 28, 1937 - June 25, 2022
Donald D. Nofziger, 84, of Goshen, died peacefully Saturday, June 25, 2022, at his home.
He was born November 28, 1937, in Archbold, Ohio, to Dennis and Ella (King) Nofziger.
On July 16, 1960, he married Vietta K. Cender in Fisher, Illinois.
She survives along with four children, Kathy (Michael) Nofziger Yeakey of Goshen, Sylvia (Bill) McBride of Milford, Donna Risser of Goshen and Bruce (Patty) Nofziger of Goshen; 11 grandchildren, Angel (Steve) Tunks, Sarah (Trent) Conway, Jesse (Cassidy) McBride, Cody (Alex) McBride, BJ McBride, Chelsea Risser (Phil Chan), Nik (Molly) Risser, Lena Yeakey, Hannah Yeakey, Jon Yeakey and Aaron Yeakey; eight great-grandchildren, Abigail Tunks, Austin Tunks, and Aiden Tunks, Haley Conway, Allyssa Conway, Eliana Conway, Gavin Conway and Ophelia McBride; two sisters, Nola (Melvin) Harnish, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and Marlene (Edward) Baer, Archbold, Ohio, and three brothers, Peter (Shirley) Nofziger, Archbold, Ohio, Milton (Donna) Nofziger, Bryan, Ohio, and Edward (Carol) Nofziger, Archbold, Ohio.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Zimmerly and Mary Lou Hershberger, and son-in-law, Troy Risser.
Mr. Nofziger was a Mennonite Pastor for nearly 30 years in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kansas, then a truck driver for another 10 years traveling across the Eastern half of the US. He was a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Counselors.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Eighth Street Mennonite Church. Julia Gingrich will officiate.

Nolt, Donald S.
June 14, 1937 - October 24, 2022
Donald S. Nolt, 85 of Akron, son of the late Amron and Rhoda (Stehman) Nolt, has gone home to be with the Lord around 8:30am, Monday, Oct. 24th, 2022. Donald was a godly and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, his daughter Donna wife of Gary Zimmerman, his son Dennis husband of Kathy Nolt. He had 3 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
He was a family man of exceptional character, disciplined, with a strong work ethic, he was highly esteemed, respected and loved by all those closest to him. He will be missed, but he is suffering no longer, and resting in the presence of his eternal creator and savior, Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held from Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 2 PM with interment following in Metzler Mennonite Cemetery. LOWVILLE, New York - Earl Martin Nolt, 81, of NYS Route 812, Lowville, passed away at his home on Saturday evening, June 18, 2022, under the loving care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Crystal Light Mennonite Church, 8672 NYS Route 812, Lowville, NY 13367. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is predeceased by three grandsons; one sister, Marian Zimmerman; and one brother, Lloyd Nolt.
Earl was born on September 15, 1940 in East Earl, PA, a son of the late Weaver W. and Bertha Martin Nolt and attended school in Lincoln, PA. On February 3, 1962, he married Verna M. Zimmerman in Lititz, PA. The family moved to Lowville in March of 1976. He was a self-employed dairy farmer for many years. He enjoyed butchering, hauling fruit, and working at his daughter's store.

Edna W. Nolt, 87, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Lincoln Christian Home.
She was born in East Earl to the late William Z. and Mary O. (Weaver) Martin and was the wife of the late John C. Nolt.
She was a member of Lime Rock Mennonite Church.
Edna was a homemaker.
Edna is survived by seven children, Leonard, husband of Ruth (Nolt) Nolt of New Holland, John, husband of Alta (Oberholtzer) Nolt of Stevens, Myron, husband of Esther (Hurst) Nolt of Lititz, Gerald, husband of Thelma (Martin) Nolt of Lititz, Mary Etta, wife of Frank Fox of Greenwood, WI, Arlene, wife of Moses Hoover of Myerstown, Lorraine, wife of Maynard Wise of Lebanon; 49 grandchildren; 151 great-grandchildren; nine siblings, Henry Martin of Lebanon, Ivan Martin of Millersburg, Clarence Martin of Ephrata, James Martin of East Earl, Titus Martin of Newmanstown, David Martin of Lititz, Mary Martin of Akron, Martha Musser of Lititz and Mabel High of Savannah, NY.

Nolt, Eliaabeth M. Martin
April 7, 1937 - December 21, 2022
Elizabeth M. Nolt, 85, of Peach Bottom, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Fairmount Homes in Ephrata. She was the loving wife of Amos Z. Nolt who died in January of 2021. They shared 64 years of marriage. She was a faithful member of Fairmount Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference).
Elizabeth dearly loved her family and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. Elizabeth, a homemaker, and her beloved husband were dairy farmers. She volunteered with Meals On Wheels, delivering meals and was also involved in her church sewing circle. She and her husband served together on several service projects with Mennonite Disaster Service and other ministries. In her free time, she enjoyed flower gardens, bird watching and quilting.
Surviving are 2 sons: Clair, husband of Mary Martin of Drumore; Gerald, husband of Lorene Nolt of Peach Bottom; 2 daughters: Elaine wife of Galen Good of Lebanon; Lisa, wife of Ardell Yoder of Partridge, KS; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Florence, wife of Harry Mast of Broadway, VA; and Lydia, wife of Edward Good, Leola; and step-mother, Eva Garman of Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin S. and Elizabeth W. Martin; son Clyde and 7 siblings: Eva Martin, Anna Weaver, John, Paul, Edwin, Elvin and Samuel and granddaughter, Jolaine Nolt.

September 28, 1941 - March 21, 2022
John Jacob Nolt, 80, of Ephrata, passed away on March 21, 2022, at Reading Hospital. Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Harvey S. and Elizabeth H. (Horst) Nolt. He was the loving husband of the late Lena N. (Zimmerman) Nolt whom he married on May 12, 1963 and shared fifty six loving years of marriage until the time of her passing on November 2, 2019.
He was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conference). He was the former owner of John J. Nolt Oil Co.
John is survived by a son-in-law; Bishop Curvin Z. Zimmerman, six grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Samuel husband of Florence (Martin) Nolt of East Greenville, Ervin husband of Ada (Lauver) Nolt of Missouri, Marian wife of Paul Rissler of Missouri, Elma wife of Melvin Sensenig of Fivepointville, Elmer husband of Lena (Sommers) Nolt of Florida, Anna Mary Zimmerman of East Earl, Melvin husband of Miriam (Mullet) Nolt of South Carolina, sister-in-law Miriam (Sensenig) Nolt of Ephrata, and thirty-nine nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is predeceased by a daughter; Susanne Z. Zimmerman, a sister; Alda Weaver, a brother; Homer Nolt and two brothers-in-law; Elmer Zimmerman and David Weaver.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, at 9:30 AM at Weaverland Mennonite Church, 1120 Weaverland Road, East Earl, PA 17519 with Bishop Amos G. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Nolt, Julia Ann Hess
February 27, 1957 - January 10, 2022
Julia Ann (Hess) Nolt, 64, of Lancaster died peacefully at home with her husband by her side on Monday, January 10, 2022. She was married to Joseph E. Nolt, Jr. Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late C. Herbert Hess and Eunice (Bergey) Hess.
Julia was a lifeguard for much of her adult life. She was an avid swimmer, biker, beach lover, and stayed active with many outdoor activities. She also had a passion for music and played many instruments. She was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church where she played in the Bell Choir.
Julia spent most of her extra time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many trips with her family and was always there for everyone with a beautiful smile on her face.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Jodi Trauger and Janelle Nolt; grandchildren, Alexis, Alyssia, Tyler and Austin; and a great-grandchild, Jaivon. She is also survived by siblings, Jerry Hess, Dan Hess, Carol Martin, Kathleen Shuman and Twila Sauder.

Nolt, Kathleen A. Martin
March 2, 1936 - August 7, 2022
Kathleen A. Nolt, 86, of New Holland, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Garden Spot Village. She was the wife of the late Elam S. Nolt who died in 2014. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Ada B. Zimmerman Martin.
Kathleen was a homemaker and a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving are four children, Ada, married to Gerald Martin of New Holland, Sadie, married to Paul Good of Narvon, Steven R., married to Mary (Weaver) Nolt of East Earl, and Ethel, married to Ivan Kulp of New Holland; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Marlin F. Frey.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 11, at 9:30 A.M. at the Groffdale Mennonite Church, 90 Groffdale Church Road, Leola, PA with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman officiating. March 31, 1965 - January 15, 2022
Lois Jean Nolt, 56, of Hyde Park, VT entered eternal rest on January 15, 2022, surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer. She was born on March 31,1965 in Ephrata, PA to the late Paul E. Witmer and Marie (Gehman) Witmer of Denver, PA. She was the wife of Calvin Nolt, the son of Lloyd &Mary Jane Nolt of Lititz, PA. They enjoyed 36 years of married life together.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by 11 children: Phyllis Wadel (Nevin) of Morrisville, VT; Clinton Nolt (Rhonda)of Wellsboro, PA; Dorcas Nolt of McGaheysville, VA; Rachel LeBlanc (Jonathan) of East Hardwick, VT; Rebecca Martin (Andrew) of Scipio Center ,NY; Audrey Bauman (Reynold) of Manheim, PA; Mary Ellen Nolt of Denver, PA; Edith Gehman (Jesse) of Lebanon, PA; Stanley, Mariah, and Caleb all at home; and 14 grandchildren.
She is also survived by 2 brothers, Eugene Witmer (Bernice) of Wolcott, VT and Daniel Witmer of Emerado, ND; and 2 sister, Joyce Martin (David) of Ephrata, PA, and Carol Auker (Jay) of Denver, PA.
She was a member of the Wolcott Mennonite Church. Viewing was held at the church on Friday, January 21, 2022. Her funeral service was held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Wolcott Mennonite Church, 1337 VT Rte. 15, Wolcott, VT 05680. Burial followed the church service at the church cemetery.

Bethel - Lucy Landis Nolt, 90, of Bethel, died in her home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. She was the wife of the late Clarence M. Nolt. She was born in Port Treverton, Snyder County on June 18, 1931, a daughter of the late Paul and Amanda Brubaker Landis. Lucy was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.
She is survived by children, Delores wife of Leon Eberly of Fredericksburg; Lorene wife of Gerald Nolt of Peach Bottom; Galen husband of Betty Nolt of Bethel; Marvin Nolt of Bethel; John David husband of Ruth Nolt of Port Royal; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; siblings, Annie wife of Melvin Gehman; Paul husband of Ella Mae Landis Jr.; Warren husband of Darla Landis; sisters in law, Lynn Landis and Ruth Landis. She was preceded in death by brothers, John Landis and Alvin Landis.

Nolt, Mary P. Lehman
August 13, 1936 - August 24, 2022
Mary P. Nolt, 86, of Lititz, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at The Gardens at Stevens.
She was the wife of Henry W. Nolt. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Amelia (Pierce) Lehman.
She was a member of Hammer Creek Mennonite Church.
Mary helped on the family farm and also worked with her husband with his rental properties. Her interests included gardening and knitting.
In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by two daughters, Karen, wife of Nelson Martin of Lititz, and Sue, wife of Wilmer Breckbill of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, LaVerna Hill and Lorraine Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, Paul, Samuel, David, Esther Ginder, Grace Frey, Martha Zimmerman, and a grandson.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend Mary's graveside service on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Meadow Valley Mennonite Church Cemetery, 200 Meadow Valley Road, Ephrata. A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.

Melvin M. Nolt, 88, formerly of Richland, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in the Lincoln Christian Home, Ephrata, PA. He was the husband of Jane S. (Kurtz) Nolt with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage. He was born in New Holland, PA, Lancaster County on July 15, 1934, a son of the late Norman O. and Lizzie W. (Martin) Nolt. Melvin worked on the farm most of his life and later worked for Rigidply Rafters in Richland. He was a member of the Millbach Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Carolyn (Nolt) wife of Glenn Martin of Stevens, PA; Kenneth husband of Arlene (Martin) Nolt of Lebanon, PA; Richard husband of Joyce (Nolt) Nolt of Richland, PA; Melvin husband of Carla (Sensenig) Nolt of Richland, PA; Janie (Nolt) wife of Michael Musser of Stevens, PA; son-in-law: Mark Musser of VA and fiance Arlene B. (Sensenig )of Quarryville PA.; 27 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Nolt) Martin of Ephrata, PA; Anna Mae (Nolt) wife of Paul Newswanger of Gordonville, PA; Bertha (Nolt) wife of Richard Hurst of Ephrata, PA; brother, Clarence husband of Kathryn (Hursh) Nolt of Myerstown, PA.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Thelma (Nolt) Musser; sister, Alta (Nolt) Weaver; brothers-in-law, Raymond Weaver and Rufus Martin.

Mildred E. Nolt, 77, of New Holland, was unexpectedly called home by her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. She was married 56 years to Raymond Z. Nolt. Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Mary V. Hurst Martin.
Mildred was a homemaker and a member of Grace Mennonite Fellowship Church. She was known for her untiring service to others.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Richard husband of Karla Zimmerman Nolt of New Alexandria, and Eugene husband of Ruth Groff Nolt of Millerstown; two daughters, Joanne wife of John Kurtz of Rawlins, WY, and Lorene wife of Lamar Torkelson of Pueblo, CO; 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Carl husband of Lena Martin of Ephrata, Lewis husband of Marilyn Martin of Mifflinburg, Paul husband of Marian Martin of Ephrata, and Earl husband of Joyce Martin of Mohnton; three sisters, Lorraine wife of Luke Weaver of Myerstown, Lucille wife of Wayne Rohrer of Mercersburg, and Ellen wife of Melvin Burkholder of Cambridge Springs.
She was preceded in death by a brother Wilmer Martin, by a sister Arlene Good, by brothers-in-law, Paul Nolt and Jake Good, by a sister-in-law, Lydia Nolt, and by two granddaughters.

Mildred M. Nolt, 69, of 1295 Springville Road, East Earl, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 5, 2022 following a brief battle with cancer. She entered into eternal rest lovingly surrounded by her husband and family at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital.
She was the wife of Paul S. Nolt. Born in Caernarvon Township, she was the daughter of the late Aaron W. and Ada B. Martin Leid.
She was a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference. She was employed by SLC Sewing factory for many years prior to becoming a homemaker. Mildred had a very strong faith in the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, making cards and scrapbook pages to bless others, and planting flower gardens.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Randy husband of Lucinda Nolt of Narvon, and Shawn husband of Mary Ann Nolt of East Earl; six grandsons, Carson, Camron, Kevin, Bradley, Trenton, and Kyler Nolt; four sisters, Vera wife of Allen Weaver of NY, Mary wife of Titus Weaver of Ephrata, Ada wife of Isaac Zimmerman of Lititz, and Jane Zimmerman of Narvon; two brothers, Lewis husband of Lena Mae Leid and James husband of Elizabeth Leid both of Narvon.
A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital that kindly took care of Mildred during her two-week battle with cancer.

Paul Z. Nolt, 89, of East Woodcorner Road, Lititz, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
He resided at the Lincoln Christian Home, Ephrata, for the last six months. Paul was the loving husband of Lydia W. (Hurst) Nolt till her death on January 25, 2018, after 64 years of marriage. Born in Earl Township, he was the son of the late Frank B. and Alta H. (Zimmerman) Nolt.
He was a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.
His occupation was farming, liquid waste, and lime hauling.
Paul Z. is survived by four sons, Carl H., husband of Karen (Sensenig) Nolt of Ephrata, Lamar H., husband of Lois (Hostetter) Nolt of Lititz, Nelson H., husband of Jane (Weaver) Nolt of Lititz, Gerald H., husband of Gloria (Martin ) Nolt of Newport; a daughter, Earlene H., wife of Leroy Sauder of Lititz; 25 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Melvin Z., husband of Miriam (Seibel) Nolt, Lloyd Z., husband of Mary Jane (Martin) Nolt and Raymond Z., husband of Mildred (Martin) Nolt.
He was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Edna (Nolt) Nolt, Miriam (Huber) Nolt and a grandson, Roy Lester Nolt,
A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2022, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Midway Mennonite Reception Center, 210 Lexington Road, Lititz. Nussbaum, Evan Dale
August 21, 1954 - March 5, 2022
Evan Dale Nussbaum, 67, of Goshen, died March 5, 2022, at Goshen Hospital following a brief illness.
Evan was born in Goshen, on August 21, 1954, to Nathan and Ruby (Glick) Nussbaum. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1972 and then attended Goshen College for four years where he majored in science and business. Through a work-study program at Goshen College, he spent the summer of 1975 in Poland which also gave him the opportunity to travel in Europe.
Evan held a variety of jobs throughout his life, including working in the RV industry, and also doing odd jobs and lawn care. He worked at Professional Place Real Estate for 16 years in maintenance. He was a hard worker and never without a job.
Evan had many challenges in life, but there were two constants, his faith and his family. He was not a member of a specific church but could often be found visiting different Mennonite churches throughout the area. He cared about family and made sure to be present at birthday parties, family gatherings and other important events.
Evan is survived by his mother; five siblings, Ethan (Carol) Nussbaum, Leesville, South Carolina, Rebecca (Don) Rohrer, Elkhart, Jonathan (Becky) Nussbaum, Union, Michigan, David Nussbaum, Osceola, and Rachel (Rick) Eby, Goshen; and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 2016.
Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. Private burial will be in Violett Cemetery.
A memorial service will take place on March 25, 2022 at North Goshen Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Moser officiating.

Nussbaum, Logan Ian
November 10, 2003 - October 15, 2022
Goshen – Logan Ian Nussbaum, 18, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022.
He was born November 10, 2003 in Kettering, Ohio to Rick and Aphaphanh (Sengsy) Nussbaum. He lived most of his life in Bluffton, Ohio and moved to Goshen, Indiana in 2018.
They survive along with a sister, Sydney Elyse; grandmothers, Dolores Nussbaum of Kidron, Ohio and Chanthy Sengsy of Fairborn, Ohio; a grandfather, Perry (Patra) Sengsy of Troy, Ohio; and his girlfriend Maria Banderas. Logan will be missed by Rudy, the family Golden Doodle, who frequently slept in his bed.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, James Nussbaum.
A 2022 graduate of Bethany Christian Schools, Logan began working for the Meijer Distribution Facility in Middlebury, Indiana. He had interest in getting into construction and real estate.
He enjoyed connecting with friends and was always there when they needed him. During his school years he participated in soccer, swimming and briefly with football, wrestling, baseball and basketball. He loved the water, highlighted by many memories at Warren Dunes and trips to the ocean were also special. He valued attending family events and gatherings.
From an early age, Logan showed interest in cooking. This summer, he hosted friends and grilled carne asada. He was welcoming to all and often made his home the gathering place for activity. He was known for his ability to interact with people from different stages in life and possessed a well-developed sense of empathy for others.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and Sunday, October 23, 2022, one hour prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service, all at East Goshen Mennonite Church, 2019 E Lincoln Ave., Goshen. Pastors Naomi Yoder and Merle Hostetler will officiate.
Following the service cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.

Martha N. (Leinbach) Oberholtzer, 90, of Millmont, entered into rest at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022, at her residence.
She was born July 4, 1931, in Caernarvon Township, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Clement B. and Annie (Newswanger) Leinbach. On Dec. 25, 1952, in Bowmansville, she married Ivan W. Oberholtzer who preceded her in death on March 5, 2019.
She was a member of Mountain View Old Order Mennonite Church.

Betty L. Ort, age 88, of Mechanicsburg, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. Born November 6, 1933 in Mechanicsburg, she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Williams) and Lester M. Hess, Sr. Betty worked as a secretary in her working days. She attended Slate Hill Mennonite Church and was a former member of West Shore Evangelical Free Church. Betty was an avid reader, flower gardener and enjoyed traveling the US. She enjoyed hosting her friends at her home. Betty's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Ort, Jr.; two children, David M. Ort and wife Debbra of Dillsburg and Laurel B. Cook and husband Lawn of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Joy Welty Nibler, Brian Ort, Lynelle van Jaarsveldt and Melinda McGrath and her six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers; Lester Hess, Jr. and Richard Hess.

Jeff D. Otto age 87 of Novelty, Missouri passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, at his home rural Novelty. He was born October 27, 1934, in Arthur, Illinois the son of Daniel E. and Susanna G. Kauffman Otto.
He was united in marriage to Leah Schrock on April 14, 1957 in Arthur, Illinois.

Jeff attended rural schools in Arthur, IL. Jeff and Leah moved from Illinois to Novelty in 1959 where he was engaged in farming. Jeff was an avid conservationist and was involved with soil and water conservation. He was one of the founders and board member of the local ethanol plant in Macon, MO. Jeff served on the Knox County R1 School Board, was actively involved with Gideons International, was a supporter of Growing Hope Globally (Food Resource Bank), was involved with Day Springs Out Reach Orphanage Ministry in Mexico and was also involved in many mission trips globally. Jeff was a member of Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Church Cherry Box, MO.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Church in Cherry Box, Missouri. Officiating the services will be Pastor Mike Schneider and Pastor Tim Worstell.

Leah Otto, age 87 of Novelty, Missouri passed away peacefully with all of her six children surrounding her Friday, February 18, 2022, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born August 12, 1934, in Arcola, Illinois the daughter of Elmer J. and Fannie (Plank) Schrock.
She was united in marriage to Jephthah (Jeff) D. Otto on April 14, 1957 in Arthur, Illinois.

Leah attended country school in Illinois. In 1959 she and her husband moved from Illinois to Novelty where they were engaged in farming and to raise their family. Leah was an avid gardener, seamstress and quilter. She made well over 100 quilts for family and friends. She enjoyed accompanying her late husband to Sarasota, FL to spend the winters. Among other travels they visited Paraguay, Alaska and Hawaii. Leah was a member of Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Church of Cherry Box, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Church, in Cherry Box. Officiating the services will be Pastor Mike Schneider.
Casket bearers will be grandsons and honorary bearers will be granddaughters.
Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Visitation also from 10 a.m. till time of services on Wednesday, February 23th at the Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Church, Cherry Box, Missouri.

Sarah J. Otto, 71 years, 2 months, and 3 days of Arcola, IL passed away at 7:40 P.M. on Friday, April 22, 2022, at her residence in rural Arcola, Illinois.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the family residence, 150 N CR 200 E, Arcola, Illinois. Bishop Daniel Rocke will officiate. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery in rural Arthur, Illinois. Visitation will be held any time after 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the family residence. Sarah was born on February 19, 1951, she was a daughter of Jonas D. and Sarah D. (Mast) Otto.
Sarah is survived by nine siblings, Ada Miller of Tuscola, IL, Daniel Otto, and his wife Fannie (Miller) of Tuscola, IL, Ella Otto, Lydia Otto, Mary Otto, Susanna Otto, Miriam Schrock, and her husband Jonas all of Arcola, IL, Verna Herschberger and her husband, Monroe of Sullivan, IL and David Otto and his wife Christina (Stutzman) of Arcola, IL.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas, and Sarah (Mast) Otto, two sisters-in-law, Anna Mae (Kauffman) Otto and Marilyn Jean (Kauffman) Otto and a brother-in-law Harvey Miller.
Sarah was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Sarah had worked in the Bakery at Yoder’s Kitchen in Arthur for the past several years.
Penner, Leonard
June 6, 1937 - May 17, 2022
Leonard Penner, 84, died in Goshen May 17, 2022. He was born in Winkler, Manitoba, Canada to Henry and Eva Penner.
On July 23, 1960, he married Lorena Detwiler in Westover, MD.
He is survived by his wife Lorena Penner, Goshen; three sons, Lee (Debra) Penner, Lowell (Leah Lichtenberger) Penner, Lauren (Hilary) Penner; seven grandchildren, Ariel Penner (Jason Comotto), Jordan Penner, Christian Penner (Nicole Shartzer), Trae (Derek) Church, Breana Penner, Thea and Greta Penner; and four siblings, Edwin (Lynne) Penner, Evangeline (Ken) Watson, Kathy (John) Klassen and Bill (Anna) Penner in Manitoba, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a stillborn grandson, Cody Penner.
In 1958 Leonard committed to one year of voluntary service with Mennonite Central Committee at Junior Village in Washington, D.C.
As a Conscientious Objector, he served from 1960-1963 in alternative service at Brooklane Hospital, Hagerstown, Maryland.
After attending Goshen College, Leonard was employed for 22 years at Yoder Popcorn as Manager, later becoming a partner.
In retirement, Leonard spent many hours of volunteer work with Mennonite Disaster Service.
In 2007 to 2008, he served as Community Coordinator for Mennonite Disaster Service in New Orleans where he connected MDS with other city and charity organizations to help homeowners rebuild. He also joined volunteers that came to rebuild homes.
Leonard loved his family dearly. Friends and neighbors inspired him. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner. He loved telling stories of his life experiences.
He was an active member of College Mennonite Church where he was involved in handyman service projects and re-entry ministry.

Petersheim, Huldah Marie Graybill
November 24, 1937 - March 1, 2022
Huldah Marie Petersheim, 84, of East Earl, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. She was married 44 years to Isaac B. Petersheim. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late J. Paul and Phebe M. Martin Graybill.
Huldah was a homemaker and had also worked at Good's Store earlier in life. She was a member of the Cambridge Mennonite Church. Her interests included reading, genealogy, flowers and gardening.
Surviving besides her husband are nieces and nephews, Rachel (Moon) wife of Daniel Kutcher, Daniel husband of Pamela (Phillips) Moon, Lois (Moon) wife of Samuel Mannhardt, Elisabeth (Moon) wife of Darrell Crofutt, Sheryl (Graybill) wife of Anthony Swanson, Dean husband of Cathy (Herman) Graybill, and Donavon husband of Beth (Livesey) Graybill, and 26 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Naomi M. wife of Ivan D. Moon, Rhoda Mae Graybill, and Ann Lois Graybill, by a brother, Paul C. husband of Verna G. Kreider Graybill and an infant brother, James Graybill, by a nephew Larry N. husband of Susanne (Homsher) Graybill and by a niece Donna (Kreider) Graybill.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 4, at 10:30 A.M. at the Cambridge Mennonite Church, 2906 Cambridge Road, Honey Brook, PA. Interment in the Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery, East Earl, PA. Viewings will be held at the church on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.

Petersheim, Isaac R.
June 22, 1942 - August 30, 2022
Isaac R. Petersheim, 80, of East Earl, passed away on August 30, 2022 after a short stay at Fairmount Homes. Born in Salisbury Township, he was the son the late Benjamin U. and Rachel (Riehl) Petersheim. He was the loving husband of the late Huldah Marie (Graybill) Petersheim, with whom he married on September 9, 1977 and shared forty four loving years of marriage until the time of her passing on March 1, 2022.
Isaac was a member of Cambridge Mennonite Church, where he was a Deacon for many years. He was employed as a Carpenter for Fairmount Homes for twenty-three years and in his later years he worked for Weaver's Store in Leola and provided transportation for an Amish Auctioneer. He enjoyed traveling, doing woodworking in his workshop, reading, going on missions trips and gardening with his wife before her passing. He especially enjoyed traveling and visiting with his nieces and nephews, with whom he and his wife dearly life and had help provide care for him.
Isaac is survived by his brothers: Jonas "JP" R. widower of Anne B. Petershiem of New Holland and Gideon "Gid" R. husband of Fannie S. Petersheim of Narvon. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Stephen husband of Missy Petersheim of Myerstown, Matthew husband of Cindy Petersheim of Townville, John Petersheim of Lebanon, Timothy Petersheim of Philadelphia, Lois wife of Michael Stoltzfus of Knox City, MO, Eunice Petersheim of Pensacola, FL, Dorcas Petersheim of Knox City, MO, Rosa wife of Dale Zimmerman of New Holland, Jay husband of Valerie Petersheim of Strasburg, Merlin husband of Angie Petersheim of Idaho, Amy Petersheim of Narvon, Randall husband of Cheremai Petersheim of Royersford and many great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother: Amos Petersheim, sister-in-law: Anne B. Petersheim, great-nephew, Ryan Stoltzfus; great-great-nephew Jarrell Petersheim.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Cambridge Mennonite Church, 2906 Cambridge Road, Honey Brook, PA 19344. There will be a viewing held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the church and also for one hour prior to the time of service on Wednesday. Interment will be held in Weaverland Cemetery.

Petre, Chester Allen
June 9, 1956 - January 9, 2022
MT. PERRY - Chester Allen Petre of Mt. Perry, Ohio entered into rest on Sunday, January 9, 2022. He was born on June 9, 1956. He accepted Christ in his youth and was a loyal member at Calvary Bible Fellowship at the time of his death. He married Myrtle A. Witmer on February 28, 1979.
Chester was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle, his father Calvert, his mother Ada, his sister Rhoda and his son-in-law, Ezra Troyer.
He is survived by five children, Sylvia (Donald) Yoder of Somerset, Ohio, Ben (Josephine) Petre of Somerset, Ohio, Joseph (Leanne) Petre of Glenford, Ohio, Dorcas (Caleb) Miller of Somerset, Ohio and Edith Troyer of Mt. Perry, Ohio; 18 broken hearted grandchildren, four sisters, Eunice Martin of Rock Springs, Tennessee, Ellen (Elmer Enos) Witmer of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Aletha Petre of Sparta, Tennessee and Ada Marie (Charles) Witmer of Smithville, Tennessee and three brothers, John (Miriam) Petre of Manton, Michigan, Glen (Priscilla) Petre of Altamont, Tennessee and Ivan (Lillian) Petre of Crosshill, South Carolina and mother-in-law, Mary Catherine Witmer of Sparta, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.
He spent many hours in his shop working on vehicles and farm equipment for neighbors and friends and hauled many loads of grain and gravel for local farmers and friends in his dump truck. When anyone needed anything, they called Chester and he dropped whatever he was doing and went to help. His big hearted love for his children and grandchildren created deep and lasting memories. His love for travel and people made him lots of friends far and wide.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many that reached out and helped through this time of grief.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Cornerstone Church, 4905 Jacksontown Rd., Heath, Ohio 43056. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday January 13, 2022 at Cornerstone Church. Burial will be at Calvary Bible Fellowship Cemetery.

Plank, Roberta N. Miller

Roberta N. Plank, 88, of Goshen, died Thursday, August 4, 2022 at The Laurels of Goshen.
She was born June 8, 1934 in Lovington, Illinois.
On September 27, 1952 she married John G. Plank in Arthur, Illinois. He died November 6, 2013.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan (Orus) Goppert of New Paris; two sons, Gary L. (Sherry) Plank of Millersburg and Kevin J. (Sandi) Plank of Elkhart; two grandchildren, Oren (Sallie) Goppert of New Paris and Joshua (Lisa) Plank of Katzrin, Israel; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Delbert (Regina) Yoder of Goshen, and Lester (Jolene) Yoder of Middlebury.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph M. Yoder and Martha Miller; two grandsons, Matthew Goppert and Jeremy Plank; and two brothers, Dean and Leon Yoder.
Mrs. Plank was a loving homemaker and member of Clinton Frame Church. She worked at various jobs throughout her life including Carriage R.V., at Greencroft as a receptionist, in housekeeping and food service. She also worked with her husband in the office of 2000 Realty until she retired in 2013.
Roberta never found a dull moment; she enjoyed working in the yard, going for walks, playing cards with friends, and watching basketball games with her brothers. She was happiest entertaining and feeding the family, and took great joy in the grandchildren boating on Lake Wawasee at Plank’s Marina, and the great-grandchildren using the swimming pool and trampoline.
Visitation will be Monday, August 8, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m., at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service. Rev. Robert Vale will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.
